Tell video stories that people actually watch

storybeamra is a practical course guide for reporters and creators across the UK, covering narrative structure, lighting direction, camera framing and a workflow you can run under deadline.

Narrative structure

Shape footage into stories that hold attention from the first frame.

Lighting direction

Set mood and clarity with lighting that fits any location or budget.

Camera framing

Compose shots with intent, from wide establishing to tight coverage.

About us

Built by working reporters and cinematographers

storybeamra started as a set of on-set notes shared between a small crew of video journalists. Today it is a structured course guide that turns those notes into repeatable techniques for narrative, light and frame, built for newsrooms, agencies and independent creators alike.

Curriculum

Five modules, one workflow

Every module pairs on-camera technique with the editorial thinking behind it, so your stories stay clear even when the schedule doesn't.

Storyboard sketches and a shot list laid out on a desk with a laptop
Pre-production

Plan your shoot with confidence

Every storybeamra module includes downloadable planning tools, so your crew arrives knowing exactly which shots tell the story and how the piece will come together.

  • Shot list templates

Plan coverage before you arrive on location.

  • Storyboard frames

Sketch key beats so the crew shares one vision.

  • Deadline-ready exports

Move from footage to finished report, fast.

Learn on real shoots, not just in theory

Every session is built around footage from genuine reports and productions, so techniques translate straight to your next shoot.

Why learn with us

A course built on values

Diversity of background and story shapes better storytelling. We look for curiosity and care in every tutor and student we work with.

Craft over trends

We teach lasting principles of light and framing, not fads that date the moment a new camera ships.

Small, hands-on groups

Every cohort is kept small so tutors can review your footage shot by shot.
