About storybeamra

A course guide made by people who make video for a living

storybeamra teaches the craft behind good video storytelling: how to structure a narrative, light a scene with intent, and frame a shot that serves the story rather than distracting from it.

Our approach

From on-set notes to a structured curriculum

We started storybeamra because too much video training focuses on equipment and not enough on storytelling instinct. Our modules pair the technical side of lighting and framing with the editorial thinking that makes a report worth watching.

Today, our tutors work with independent creators, production agencies and regional newsrooms across the United Kingdom, adapting the same core principles to whatever deadline or budget a team is working with.

What we stand for

Our values

Clarity first

Every technique we teach exists to make a story clearer, never just more complicated.

Learn together

Small cohorts mean detailed, personal feedback on your actual footage.

Real-world proof

We measure success by the reports and reels our students take into the field.

Our story

How we got here

2016

A small group of video journalists began sharing lighting and framing notes informally.

2019

Those notes became structured workshops for regional newsroom video teams.

2022

storybeamra launched as a full course guide covering narrative, light and frame.

Today

We work with independent creators, agencies and newsrooms across the UK.
